Emirates strengthened its position as the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft with a new order for 65 Boeing 777 9 jets valued at USD 38 billion on the opening day of Dubai Airshow 2025.

The deal lifts Emirates total Boeing orderbook to 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 777Xs, 10 777 freighters and 35 787s. The airline also expanded its commitment to GE Aerospace with orders for 130 additional GE9X engines, bringing its total to 540. The agreements represent a major boost for US aerospace manufacturing, supporting jobs across multiple states over the life of the programmes.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said the order aligns with the carrier’s long term expansion plans and Dubai’s growth strategy. He noted that Emirates expects delivery of its first 777 9 aircraft from the second quarter of 2027 as it continues to invest in a young and modern fleet.

The latest agreement also signals strong support for Boeing’s feasibility study on the proposed 777 10, a larger variant of the 777X family. Emirates secured options to convert part of its new order to the 777 10 or the 777 8 as demand evolves.

Executives from Boeing and GE Aerospace welcomed the expanded partnership, highlighting Emirates role in driving innovation and global connectivity over the past four decades. Emirates currently operates the world’s largest 777 fleet, connecting Dubai to more than 140 destinations.

Following the new order, Emirates will receive Boeing deliveries through 2038, reinforcing a longstanding relationship with US manufacturers and the skilled workforce behind the 777X and GE9X programmes.
