Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the UAE's largest industrial entity outside the oil and gas sector, has announced the onboarding of over 110 women since Emirati Women’s Day 2023, including 67 UAE Nationals.
With this latest addition, EGA now employs over 550 women in the UAE, with more than 195 engaged in operational roles.
The company is committed to advancing gender diversity, with a target of having women occupy 25% of supervisory roles by 2025, up from the current 20%, and 15% of all positions by 2026. In celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, EGA launched the “Break the Mould” initiative, aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), inspired by the trailblazing women in the UAE's industrial sector.
Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, emphasized the significance of diversity in driving business performance.
"At EGA and in the UAE industrial sector, pioneering women are making significant contributions and inspire many more women to follow in their footsteps," he stated.
In 2022, EGA opened its National Training programmes for front-line industrial roles to women, with females constituting 20% of new joiners. The company also launched the Challenger Programme, uniting leading industrial firms to tackle gender diversity challenges collaboratively.
EGA’s commitment to gender diversity is further underscored by its adherence to the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles, advocating for women's roles in industry and society.
