Emirates Health Services Launches 15 Specialised Mental Health Clinics
Emirates Health Services (EHS) has launched 15 specialised mental health clinics under its "Together for Mental Well-being" initiative, expanding access to mental health care across six emirates, including Dubai and Fujairah.
The initiative, inaugurated by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, aligns with the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, reinforcing EHS’s commitment to enhancing community mental health and quality of life.
Integrating Mental Health into Primary Care
Dr. Noor Al Mheiri, Director of the Mental Health Department at EHS, emphasized that integrating mental health services within primary healthcare is a strategic priority, ensuring early access to specialised care and fostering a comprehensive and sustainable healthcare system.
Dr. Kareema Alraesi, Director of the Primary Healthcare Department at EHS, highlighted the holistic health model, which enhances early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological conditions. Healthcare professionals will undergo specialised training to improve their ability to identify and manage mental health disorders effectively.
Key Features of the Initiative
- Diagnostic and therapeutic mental health services integrated within primary healthcare centres.
- Specialised training for family physicians in mental health care.
- Electronic mental health systems within the Wareed health information system, ensuring accurate data management and evidence-based decision-making.
Advancing Mental Health Awareness and Treatment
The launch event included lectures and workshops on:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) integration
- Anxiety and depression treatments across age groups
- Risk assessment and early intervention techniques
By integrating specialised mental health services into primary care, EHS is transforming access to mental health care, promoting early intervention, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatments, ultimately supporting the well-being of communities across the UAE.
