Emirates NBD has broadened the reach of its flagship cross-border payment service, DirectRemit, enabling customers to send money to more than 40 countries with near real-time speed and cost efficiency.
The expansion covers destinations across Europe, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, offering faster transfers, competitive exchange rates, and round-the-clock reliability.
Introduced in 2014, DirectRemit has transformed how Emirates NBD customers support families and manage finances abroad. Initially covering countries such as India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the UK, and Egypt, the service now meets the needs of over 80% of the UAE’s expatriate population. Customers use the ENBD X Mobile Banking App or Online Banking to send funds securely at any time.
Yousuf Saeed Mohd, Group Head of Personal and Priority Banking and Retail Banking Sales, said the expansion reflects the bank’s commitment to innovation and financial convenience. He emphasized that the near real-time remittance corridors strengthen connections between customers and their loved ones worldwide, making international transfers safer, faster, and more affordable.
The UAE remains the second-largest hub for outbound remittances globally, trailing only the United States. The upgraded DirectRemit corridors leverage Emirates NBD’s robust digital infrastructure and a strategic partnership with Nium, a leading FinTech in cross-border payments. The service operates under strict compliance, security, and regulatory standards, ensuring reliability for users.
Customers can immediately access the expanded DirectRemit service through the ENBD X Mobile Banking App and Online Banking, making international money transfers simpler and more efficient than ever.
