The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) has taken significant steps to bolster cooperation between UAE-based publishers and their global counterparts, demonstrating its commitment to advancing the nation's publishing industry.

The association recently participated in the prestigious 76th Frankfurt International Book Fair, held from October 16 to 20, 2024, showcasing the UAE’s growing presence in the international publishing scene.

During the event, the EPA hosted a delegation of prominent Emirati publishers, including Fatma Al Khatib of Sidra Publishing Services, Abdul Wahed Alwani of Dar Al Muheet Publishing House, and Aldhabi Almheiri, the world’s youngest publisher. Their participation highlighted the UAE’s dedication to nurturing homegrown talent and promoting Emirati literature on the world stage.

Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the EPA, emphasized the importance of the fair for creating strategic partnerships.

"Our focus was to foster collaboration, facilitate the exchange of publishing rights, and connect Emirati publishers with their global counterparts,"

Al Kous stated. These efforts have been instrumental in promoting Emirati books and elevating the UAE’s position in the international cultural arena.

The EPA’s stand at the fair featured 40 titles from its members, complete with QR codes offering summaries in English. This initiative aimed to streamline the rights sale process and expand the global reach of Emirati literature.

Publishers involved in the event lauded the Frankfurt Book Fair as an essential platform for networking, showcasing their work, and forging valuable partnerships that will further enrich the UAE’s publishing landscape.
