Emirates has officially reinstated its daily service connecting Adelaide and Dubai, utilizing the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, which features 302 seats across Business and Economy classes.
This service will provide over 4,200 weekly seats, facilitating travel for more than 220,400 passengers annually between the South Australian capital and Dubai.
The return of this service is poised to significantly enhance South Australia’s economy, with an estimated tourism expenditure of over $62 million per year, according to the South Australian Tourism Commission. Additionally, it is expected to create more than 315 full-time tourism jobs.
Premier Peter Malinauskas emphasized the importance of this connection, stating,
“We’re re-opening South Australia’s doors to the world, showcasing our beautiful state to over 220,000 potential visitors each year.”
Emirates SkyCargo will also bolster trade, providing 14 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, which translates to 196 tonnes weekly. Key exports include seafood, meat products, fruits, and various general cargo items, with freight exports valued at approximately $98 million annually. The total economic impact from Emirates’ flights to Adelaide is estimated at $160 million.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales, noted Australia remains a priority market for the airline, which now operates 70 weekly services across five Australian cities. The reinstated Adelaide route enhances connections to over 140 global destinations.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox welcomed the service, highlighting its importance for international competition, tourism, and local exports. Emirates’ flight EK440 departs Dubai at 02:00hrs, arriving in Adelaide at 20:50hrs, while the return flight EK441 departs Adelaide at 22:40hrs, landing in Dubai at 05:20hrs.
