Emirates has announced the next phase of its extensive aircraft retrofit programme, targeting 60 A380s and 51 Boeing 777s with upgraded cabins, next-generation entertainment, and enhanced connectivity.
The initiative aims to deliver a consistent and elevated passenger experience across the airline’s fleet.
Starting in August 2026, the retrofits will introduce new seating designs, a dedicated onboard lounge on A380s, and Panasonic’s Astrova inflight entertainment system. Upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity via Starlink will also be installed, reflecting Emirates’ focus on combining comfort with cutting-edge technology.
Emirates Engineering is leading the programme in collaboration with partners including Airbus, Safran, Recaro, Panasonic, Starlink, and UUDS. The partnership ensures that cabin innovations align with the airline’s standards for comfort, privacy, and overall passenger experience.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, said the programme is part of the airline’s ongoing effort to raise fleet-wide standards. He highlighted that the upgrades will bring product consistency while incorporating the latest innovations in seating, entertainment, and connectivity.
The retrofit programme, first launched in 2021, initially covered 120 aircraft and has since expanded to 219. So far, 76 aircraft have been refurbished, with A380 upgrades taking about 22 days and Boeing 777s 18 days each. The airline maintains a steady pace, delivering two upgraded aircraft per month.
By continuously investing in fleet modernisation and passenger experience, Emirates reinforces its position as a global leader in aviation innovation, setting a benchmark for service and technology in the skies.
