Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, has launched a dedicated weekly freighter service to Copenhagen Airport, Denmark.

This deployment, effective from January 1, 2025, strengthens the airline’s global network, bringing the total destinations served by Emirates freighters to 38.

Previously reliant on bellyhold capacity in passenger aircraft, the new Boeing 777 freighter provides approximately 85 tonnes of cargo capacity for goods originating from Denmark and neighboring countries, including Norway and Sweden. This move addresses the growing demand in Scandinavia, particularly for pharmaceutical shipments, which have driven over 20% growth in cargo volumes from Denmark in the last financial year.

Copenhagen has emerged as Europe’s northern hub for pharmaceutical logistics, supported by a robust life sciences industry and cold chain infrastructure. The increased capacity, coupled with Emirates SkyCargo’s specialized pharmaceutical product offerings, will further boost Denmark’s pharma exports globally.

Beyond pharmaceuticals, the freighter will cater to diverse cargo needs, including general goods and temperature-sensitive perishables like fish and food products. Emirates SkyCargo’s tailored solutions ensure efficient, reliable transport from Copenhagen to worldwide markets.

“Demand has been strong across Scandinavia, with particular growth in Copenhagen,”

said Mette Jensen, Cargo Manager for Scandinavia, Emirates SkyCargo.

“The dedicated freighter enables us to support current demand and provide our customers access to a vast global market.”

Emirates SkyCargo currently serves 11 European destinations with 38 dedicated freighter flights weekly, complemented by over 485 passenger flights. This extensive network positions Europe as one of the airline’s busiest regions.

Flight EK9746 will arrive in Copenhagen on Wednesdays at 12:35 AM and depart for Dubai World Central at 3:05 PM.
