Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, has confirmed a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, valued at US$1 billion.

These aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026, bringing the airline’s total order book to 315 wide-body aircraft.

In the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year, Emirates SkyCargo has shown exceptional performance with high load factors and tonnages surpassing 2019 levels. The introduction of the new aircraft will increase main deck cargo capacity by 30%, enhancing the airline’s ability to serve key markets and meet global customer demand.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, remarked,

“The demand for our world-class products and services is growing exponentially, further driven by Dubai’s Economic Agenda to double foreign trade. This investment in additional Boeing 777 capacity supports our long-term strategic growth plan.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed gratitude for Emirates’ continued trust, stating,

“We are honored that Emirates SkyCargo has once again selected the Boeing 777 Freighter, and we are committed to supporting their long-term strategic growth.”

As new aircraft are delivered, Emirates SkyCargo will phase out older freighters, ensuring one of the youngest and most efficient fleets in the sky. Alongside the five new Boeing 777Fs, the airline will also convert 10 Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters, expanding its freighter fleet to 17 aircraft by the end of 2025. This diversified fleet, which includes 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s, will continue to offer flexible and efficient global cargo services.
