Emirates Airlines is set to increase its flight frequency between Colombo and Dubai, introducing an additional service starting 2 January 2025.

The new flight, EK654/655, will operate six times a week until 31 March 2025, boosting seat capacity by 30% on the popular route. This expansion aligns with Sri Lanka’s efforts to increase tourist arrivals in 2025.

The additional service will depart Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 10:05hrs (except Wednesdays), arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 16:00hrs local time. The return flight will leave BIA at 22:05hrs, reaching DXB at 01:05hrs the following day. Starting 1 April 2025, a seventh flight will be added on Wednesdays, further improving accessibility.

The new flight can accommodate up to 360 passengers, with 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class, and 310 Economy Class seats. This increase will not only enhance passenger comfort but also offer more options for travelers.

Emirates, in partnership with Sri Lanka Tourism, has long supported the island's tourism and export sectors, helping boost the country’s tourism target of 3 million visitors by 2025. This expansion is expected to play a key role in showcasing Sri Lanka’s eco-tourism offerings, attracting eco-conscious travelers worldwide.

Since launching operations to Sri Lanka in 1986, Emirates has carried over 12 million passengers to and from Colombo. With four daily flights, the airline now offers over 2,800 seats daily on the Colombo-Dubai route, with a cargo capacity of up to 160 tonnes.
