Emirates has advised customers to prepare for a busy travel period during the first week of January, with high passenger volumes expected between 2 and 5 January.
The airline is urging travellers to plan ahead and arrive at Dubai International Airport (DXB) at least four hours before departure to allow sufficient time for check-in, baggage drop, immigration, and boarding, while accounting for increased road traffic, crowded car parks, and busy terminals.
To help passengers navigate the peak travel period smoothly, Emirates has shared several recommendations. Customers are encouraged to make use of remote check-in options to reduce time spent at the airport. The Emirates City Check In and Travel Store at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) allows passengers to check in and drop luggage between 24 and four hours before departure, with free parking available. Customers using this service until 15 January will receive 2,500 Emirates Skywards Miles. The facility operates daily from 8:00 am to midnight. Emirates also offers a 24-hour City Check In facility in Ajman, located at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal, providing similar early check-in options.
Travellers can also book Emirates’ Home Check In service in Dubai and Sharjah, which allows check-in and baggage collection at a customer’s home, hotel, or office. This service must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and is complimentary for First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members.
Emirates further recommends using public transport, particularly the Dubai Metro, to avoid road congestion. The Red Line offers direct access to Terminal 3 at DXB, providing a fast and reliable alternative to driving.
Overall, Emirates advises passengers to complete online check-in where possible, ensure travel documents are valid, preselect seats, and reach the boarding gate at least one hour before departure to ensure a smooth travel experience during the peak period.
