The Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote sustainable urban development and accelerate the UAE’s progress towards its Net Zero by 2050 commitments.
This strategic partnership aims to foster climate-resilient, inclusive, and green urban growth through training, knowledge-sharing events, and capacity-building initiatives.
Leveraging insights from both the public and private sectors, the collaboration will address challenges in enhancing the built environment, with a focus on implementing green projects and driving innovation in sustainable infrastructure. Key initiatives will include workshops, training programs, and pilot projects to demonstrate the feasibility of green building solutions.
The MoU was signed by EmiratesGBC Chairman Khaled Bushnaq and GGGI’s Middle East and North Africa Director Mahamadou Tounkara, with representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) attending the ceremony. Khaled Bushnaq remarked,
“This partnership marks a significant step forward in achieving the UAE's Net Zero goals. By combining EmiratesGBC’s expertise with GGGI’s global network, we aim to accelerate the adoption of green building practices and create a sustainable built environment.”
Mahamadou Tounkara added,
“The UAE’s leadership in sustainable development is commendable, and GGGI is proud to support these efforts. Together with EmiratesGBC, we will empower stakeholders with the tools and resources needed to drive the transition to green, sustainable cities.”
