The 10th Emirati Media Forum brought together the UAE’s top media leaders and thinkers at the Museum of the Future in Dubai to discuss the evolving landscape of media policies, legislation, and the growing influence of film and gaming on the national media scene.
Held under the patronage and in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, alongside H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, the forum was organised by the Dubai Press Club and attended by key figures from across the country’s media ecosystem.
During a panel on the future of media legislation, Mohammed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, outlined the Council’s efforts to build a flexible, innovative, and talent-driven media environment. He highlighted policies that enhance local competitiveness while maintaining the UAE’s position as a regional and global media hub.
Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, noted that Dubai’s media sector continues to expand rapidly, with more than 4,000 companies and hundreds of international influencers based in the emirate. She emphasised that media contributes significantly to the economy, with potential to exceed 2.5 percent of GDP, and that new legislation aims to balance innovation with cultural identity.
A second panel explored the impact of film and e-gaming on the media industry, featuring Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, and Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing. The discussion underscored Dubai’s growing role in the creative economy and its commitment to building a globally connected, innovation-driven media ecosystem.
