Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the global leader in district cooling services, has awarded a contract to design its second district cooling plant in Jumeirah Village. Construction is set to commence in the first quarter of 2025.

This initiative is part of Empower's major project in Jumeirah Village, which includes the development of six state-of-the-art plants with a total cooling capacity of 256,000 tons. The new plant will enhance the existing infrastructure, which already includes the world’s first unmanned district cooling plant. This plant currently supports around 114 buildings with a capacity of 49,000 refrigeration tons (RT).

The upcoming plant will boast advanced cooling technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing water usage. With a cooling capacity of approximately 37,000 RT, it will serve a variety of facilities within Jumeirah Village, including residential and commercial properties, hotels, and more.

Strategically situated in New Dubai, Jumeirah Village offers proximity to green spaces and an array of amenities, making it an attractive location for diverse residents.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, emphasized that the new plant reflects the company's commitment to sustainable cooling solutions and aligns with Dubai’s vision for a green economy. He highlighted that the plant will meet high global standards and integrate seamlessly with Dubai's urban identity, supporting the ‘Smart Dubai’ initiative and contributing to the UAE's climate goals.

Empower's expansion plans are designed to enhance its services across Dubai, reinforcing its leadership in the district cooling industry and commitment to eco-friendly practices.
