Dubai’s district cooling sector continues its rapid expansion as Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC, known as Empower, signs a new agreement with Meraas to supply over 17,500 refrigeration tons to City Walk phase 3 and the Verve building.
The deal reflects rising demand for energy efficient cooling solutions across Dubai’s growing real estate landscape. It also reinforces Empower’s strategy to support large scale developments with sustainable infrastructure that aligns with the emirate’s urban growth and environmental priorities.
Under the agreement, Empower will provide district cooling services to one of Dubai’s most prominent mixed use destinations. City Walk phase 3 is set to enhance the area’s appeal with a blend of residential, commercial, and lifestyle offerings designed to deliver a fully integrated urban experience.
Empower said the expansion strengthens its position as a leading provider in the sector, with its total connected cooling capacity expected to reach around 1.7 million refrigeration tons by the end of 2025, serving nearly 1,750 buildings. Its contracted capacity has also climbed to approximately 2.0 million refrigeration tons.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said the agreement supports the company’s efforts to diversify its portfolio while contributing to carbon emission reduction and sustainability goals. He added that Empower remains focused on meeting the evolving needs of Dubai’s fast growing real estate sector while aligning with national strategies for a green economy and net zero targets.
Once completed, City Walk phase 3 will feature high end residences, green spaces, and modern amenities, further elevating Dubai’s dynamic urban landscape.
