Expo City Dubai has been officially recognized as a Certified Autism Center™ by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
This milestone underscores Dubai's ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all visitors, including those with autism and sensory sensitivities.
The designation follows comprehensive training for Expo City’s visitor-facing teams, spanning security, hospitality, transport, and attractions. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader ambition to become the first Certified Autism Destination™ in the Eastern Hemisphere, featuring trained and certified lodging, recreation, and entertainment facilities.
Marjan Faraidooni, Chief of Education and Culture at Expo City Dubai, emphasized the city’s dedication to accessibility and inclusivity, stating,
“We have built accessibility into our very fabric, creating an inclusive culture for residents, visitors, and employees alike.”
Myron Pincomb, CEO of IBCCES, hailed the achievement as a global benchmark, praising Expo City’s leadership in fostering accessibility. Similarly, Aisha Al Mansoori, Director of the Abu Dhabi Autism Center, commended Expo City for ensuring equal opportunities for all visitors.
Expo City’s accessibility offerings include Sunflower Lanyards for visitors requiring assistance and accommodations for service dogs. This achievement builds on the legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai, which was recognized as the first Sensory Accessible Event in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.
Designed as a blueprint for sustainable urban living, Expo City Dubai continues to integrate accessibility and inclusion into its operations, ensuring a seamless experience for all.
