Expo City Dubai has been named the global “Rising Star” free zone for 2025 by fDi Intelligence, a Financial Times publication, reaffirming the city’s growing status as a world-class business hub driven by innovation, connectivity, and sustainability.
The award, part of fDi’s Global Free Zones of the Year Awards, recognises Expo City Dubai’s strong infrastructure, smart city technologies, and investor-friendly ecosystem that supports businesses of all sizes. Positioned as a dynamic community, the free zone enables entrepreneurship and foreign investment through its strategic location and flexible business framework.
Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Expo City Dubai Authority, said the award reflects the city’s vision to offer “an unparalleled business environment where innovation meets impact.” He added that the city is designed for collaboration and growth, allowing both start-ups and multinational firms to thrive while contributing to Dubai’s sustainable future.
Located just 15 minutes from Jebel Ali Port and next to Al Maktoum International Airport, Expo City offers direct access to global markets and multimodal transport networks. It features LEED Platinum- and Gold-certified buildings, walkable campuses, and lifestyle-focused spaces that promote wellbeing and work-life balance.
The 2025 awards received 80 submissions globally, with 16 contenders in the “Rising Star” category for zones established after December 2022. Expo City stood out for its strategic vision, rapid growth, and high tenant demand, recording an 82 percent rise in leased premises in early 2025.
Home to companies such as Siemens Energy, Nestlé, ENGIE, and Emirates Group’s Ebdaa innovation hub, Expo City continues to anchor Dubai’s D33 economic agenda while positioning itself as a global destination for innovation and sustainability.
