UAE's E-Commerce Market Projected to Reach AED48.8 Billion by 2028
EZDubai, Dubai's premier e-commerce zone, in partnership with Euromonitor International, unveiled the 'E-Commerce Report in the MENA Region 2023'.
The UAE's e-commerce market is thriving, reaching AED 27.5 billion in 2023 and projected to hit AED 48.8 billion by 2028. Driven by tech-savvy Gen Z and millennials, mobile-based shopping is preferred, with credit/debit cards dominating transactions. MENA's e-commerce market is also rising, set to reach AED 183.6 billion by 2028.
Key trends shaping MENA e-commerce include increased omnichannel adaptation, as consumers demand seamless shopping experiences, alongside a rise in digital payments and a shift towards payment apps. The popularity of membership programs and the expansion of online grocery shopping also mark significant changes.
Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of Logistics District, Dubai South, expressed satisfaction in launching the fourth e-commerce report with Euromonitor, aiming to provide stakeholders with updated insights. He highlighted the region's e-commerce growth driven by high-speed internet, favorable policies, and the UAE's new e-commerce law focusing on investment, consumer protection, and innovation. EZDubai aims to support the government's vision and solidify Dubai's role in regional e-commerce.
EZDubai, initiated in January 2019 by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to lure top e-commerce firms and set a standard with its infrastructure. Strategically positioned in the Logistics District of Dubai South, it serves as a central hub for e-commerce activities.
