The inaugural Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) is set to make its debut, founded by Dubai Design District (d3) – a member of TECOM Group PJSC – in collaboration with the Arab Fashion Council (AFC). The event will commence this week at d3, as well as various other new venues and locations across Dubai.

This official fashion event, which launched at an exclusive event last month attended by dignitaries, government officials, and fashion and culture media, will become the region's definitive fashion fixture. The first edition of DFW will feature new spaces and locations for catwalk shows, along with city-wide events that showcase both global brands and regional talents, solidifying Dubai's position as a global fashion hub and a reference for the entire industry.

DFW builds on the successful legacy of Arab Fashion Week and will take place from March 10th to 15th, 2023. The event is expected to draw international collaborators, designers, and visitors, along with an extensive gathering of media and buyers arriving in Dubai following Paris Fashion Week, to view the Autumn Winter 2023/24 collections. This event emphasizes TECOM Group's commitment to establishing Dubai as a global creative capital and enhances the Emirate's status as a global hub for business growth and investment.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of d3, expressed her excitement for the first official Dubai Fashion Week, stating that it builds upon the success of Arab Fashion Week and marks a new chapter in the region's fashion journey. She added that the event will honour Dubai's growing influence as a global fashion capital, featuring international brands and experts from around the world to gather at Dubai Design District. Al Bastaki emphasised that d3 is the hub of the region's creative talent, with the vision, ambition, and innovation to elevate the impact and reach of creatives globally.

Jacob Abrian, Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Fashion Council, shared his enthusiasm for the event and expressed his hope that Dubai will stand alongside its peers as one of the world's leading fashion capitals. He was delighted to see the Arab Fashion Council (AFC), Dubai Design District (d3), Dubai's major industry stakeholders, and member designers come together to mark a historical move and unite the local fashion scene under DFW's broad umbrella.

To commemorate the first official Dubai Fashion Week and further grow Dubai's status as a global fashion capital, a number of exciting new initiatives will be launched during the week. These will include the unveiling of a steering committee for Dubai Fashion Week, a buyers committee, and a permanent designers committee. These committees will work under the Arab Fashion Council's supervision to ensure that DFW's ambitious goals and vision are met, steering the future of the new Dubai Fashion Week in a dynamic and sustainable way.
