flydubai has begun construction on its first dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South, marking a major milestone in the airline’s infrastructure growth as it scales up operations to support its expanding fleet.

The state-of-the-art facility, spanning 32,600 square metres, is scheduled for completion by the last quarter of 2026. It will include a fully equipped aircraft hangar, support workshops, and office buildings, offering greater in-house maintenance control and faster turnaround times.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place in the presence of Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, along with officials from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).

Al Zaffin highlighted Dubai’s vision for aviation growth, stating the project strengthens the city’s status as a global aviation hub. Al Ghaith added that the centre will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and supporting flydubai’s continued fleet expansion.

The project follows an agreement signed at the 2023 Dubai Airshow between flydubai and MBRAH. Strategically located near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), the facility is expected to benefit from Dubai South’s integrated aviation and logistics ecosystem.

Once operational, the centre will support over 600 skilled engineers across technical departments responsible for maintaining the safety and airworthiness of flydubai’s aircraft.
