flydubai will restart direct daily flights to Damascus from 1st June 2025, marking a significant return after a 12-year suspension. The flights will operate from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM).

The announcement follows the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s decision in April to allow the resumption of air travel between the UAE and Syria. flydubai becomes the first national carrier to re-establish this connection, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.

“We are very pleased to be the first national carrier to resume flights to Syria after 12 years of halted operations,”

said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.

“Damascus holds a special cultural and historical significance within the region, and we are excited to serve the city again with a direct daily service.”

Damascus was one of flydubai’s original destinations, with services first launched in June 2009. The renewed route is expected to offer more travel options for passengers across the carrier’s network, especially ahead of Eid al-Adha and the summer peak.

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, noted that the airline had worked closely with authorities to meet all operational standards before the relaunch.

The resumption is not only a strategic move for flydubai but also reflects broader efforts by the UAE to rebuild regional ties and facilitate greater mobility within the Middle East.
