flydubai has taken a major step in its growth strategy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for 150 A321neo aircraft, marking the airline’s first order with the European manufacturer.

The agreement was signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025 by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, and Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus. The signing was witnessed by flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith during the event’s second day.

Sheikh Ahmed said the deal supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He noted that the new aircraft will play a central role in expanding flydubai’s network and meeting increasing demand across its markets.

He added that the airline looks forward to building a long lasting partnership with Airbus as it enters a new phase of expansion.

Scherer welcomed flydubai as a new Airbus customer and highlighted the value the A321neo brings in range, efficiency and passenger experience.

The A321neo, part of the A320neo family, features new generation engines, Sharklets and enhanced cabin systems designed to reduce fuel burn and CO₂ emissions by more than 20 percent compared to previous single aisle models.

The order positions flydubai to broaden its fleet capabilities as it continues its rapid growth across regional and international routes.
