The Food Innovation Conference 2024, organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, kicked off in Dubai today under the theme ‘Reimagining Future Food Systems’.
The three-day conference convenes over 150 global experts, businesses, and farmers to address food sustainability. It aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and investment in agricultural and food systems, accelerating knowledge exchange and capacity building. The event seeks to mobilize action for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems, uniting public and private sectors and leveraging frontier technologies. It builds on the partnership between MBRGI and WEF, expanding the Food Innovation Hubs Global Initiative established in 2022. The inauguration featured key figures including Dr. Amna Al Dahak and representatives from MBRGI, WEF, and the World Food Programme.
Dr. Amna Al Dahak, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, emphasized at the conference the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to achieve food security, especially in regions impacted by climate change and economic shifts. She highlighted the UAE's commitment to global food security and cooperation with international partners. The event aims to connect innovators, investors, and stakeholders to accelerate food system innovation.
Saeed Al Eter emphasized the conference's role in fostering collaboration and addressing global food production challenges, particularly for vulnerable communities.
Tania Strauss of the World Economic Forum highlighted the partnership with MBRGI for the Food Innovation Conference, aiming to advance global goals like food security and zero hunger.
Asma Khan from WFP stressed the importance of collaborative efforts for sustainable food systems. The conference showcased organic, eco-friendly products and innovative food concepts. The second day focuses on discussions about emerging technology's role in transforming food systems and advancing global innovations for future food sustainability.
