Food Tech Valley, a pioneering initiative led by the UAE government, has taken a significant step in its expansion by signing a 27-year agreement with Spinneys, the leading premium supermarket chain.

This partnership aims to foster innovation in food processing while reinforcing the UAE's commitment to food security and sustainability.

As part of the agreement, Spinneys will establish a state-of-the-art processing facility covering 500,000 sq. ft. within Food Tech Valley, which is set to begin operations soon. The deal was formalized between Rashed Mohammad, Chief Real-Estate Officer of Wasl, and Sunil Kumar, CEO of Spinneys.

Rashed Mohammad emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating,

"We welcome Spinneys to Food Tech Valley and look forward to working closely with them on their ambitious journey to provide UAE consumers with sustainably grown, high-quality food supplies."

He added that this facility would bolster Dubai's position as a hub for food innovation and sustainability.

Sunil Kumar echoed this sentiment, highlighting Spinneys' commitment to local farmers and food producers. He remarked,

"This partnership marks a significant step in our ambitious growth plans, enabling us to better serve our customers with cutting-edge food processing capabilities."

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Food Tech Valley aims to transform the UAE into a global hub for technology-based food and agricultural solutions. With over 90 percent of food in the UAE being imported and a projected 50 percent increase in demand by 2030, this initiative is crucial for developing a sustainable and self-sufficient food ecosystem.
