As part of UAE Innovation Month (UAE Innovates 2025) and the Year of Community, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) organised the InnoTAX 2025 AI Hackathon on 26-27 February at Al Shindagha Museum in Dubai.
The two-day event aimed to foster innovative tax solutions and strengthen collaboration between public and private sectors.
The Hackathon attracted a diverse pool of participants, including developers, AI specialists, designers, data scientists, university students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and fintech innovators. The competition focused on harnessing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing to enhance taxpayer services, raise tax awareness, and improve tax compliance.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, highlighted the Authority's commitment to innovation, stating,
"Innovation is a fundamental pillar for developing and enhancing the efficiency of the tax sector. This Hackathon reflects our dedication to fostering innovation in taxation by leveraging the latest artificial intelligence technologies."
Participants presented a range of projects designed to improve the taxpayer experience and address sector challenges. On the final day, expert panels from the FTA evaluated submissions based on creativity, technological application, feasibility, and impact. The top three innovative solutions were recognised for their potential to advance the UAE’s tax system.
The InnoTAX 2025 AI Hackathon reaffirmed the FTA's dedication to integrating cutting-edge technologies into its services, supporting the UAE's vision for a more efficient and innovative tax ecosystem.
