UAE and Indonesia Strengthen Sports Cooperation with Signing of MoU
The General Authority of Sports (GAS) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
The agreement enhances friendly relations and cooperation between both nations in sports, while also advancing strategic partnerships. The objective is to leverage administrative and technical expertise and human and material resources available to both parties. By developing joint programmes and initiatives in collaboration with relevant organisations from both countries, both entities aim to fulfil their strategic plans for sports development and improve their performance across various aspects of sports-related efforts.
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the General Authority of Sports, along with Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo, Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Sheikh Suhail Bin Butti Al Maktoum. Representatives from both countries' sports sectors attended the ceremony.
Dr. Al Falasi highlighted the MoU's significance in enhancing sports collaboration, focusing on sports science, community sports, school and university sports, and athlete opportunities in regional and international events.
Ario Ariotedjo emphasized the agreement's role in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing sports cooperation, including coach and athlete exchange, sports management, and event enhancement. The MoU aims to achieve shared sports objectives and support each other in hosting global sporting events, building on the UAE's notable support for Indonesia's U-20 football world cup bid.
The MoU aims to reinforce collaboration between both nations in sports through several key avenues. These avenues include visits between government officials, experts, athletes, coaches, and researchers. Furthermore, it entails the exchange of experiences, knowledge, skills, technologies, information, publications, data, and educational resources.
Additionally, capacity-building programmes will be implemented to enhance the qualifications of personnel engaged in the sports sector of both countries. This will be achieved through diverse initiatives such as training programmes and workshops. Moreover, both parties will help promote a wide array of sports categories, encompassing (community - competitive – school and University) sports.
