GCAA Launches Golden Package to Transform Private Aviation Sector

On the sidelines of MEBAA 2024, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) unveiled its groundbreaking Golden Package for Registering and Operating Private and Business Aircraft.

The initiative, led by Aqeel Al Zarouni, Assistant Director-General for Aviation Safety Affairs, aims to streamline processes, enhance flexibility, and position the UAE as a global aviation leader.

Key highlights of the Golden Package include the reduction of Air Operator Certificate (AOC) processing time from two years to 90 days and Air Operating Authorizations (AOA) to 60 days. The package also introduces a Business Aviation Advisory Council, a "One-Stop Shop" for aviation processes, and Registration Code Personalization for aircraft. Operators can independently manage aircraft at reduced costs, with added benefits like 100% ownership rights and simplified maintenance procedures.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the UAE’s vision to bolster its aviation sector. He cited the growing global demand for private aviation, driven by rising personal wealth and luxury travel needs, as a key motivator for the reforms.

The UAE's strategic location and world-class infrastructure position it as a premier hub for private aviation growth. The Golden Package, developed in collaboration with federal, local, and private stakeholders, reflects extensive regional and international consultations to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

This transformative initiative promises to usher in a new era of growth and sustainability for the private aviation sector, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to innovation and excellence in air transport.
