GITEX Global 2024, the world’s largest tech and startup event, hosted the Middle East’s largest gathering of data centre professionals on Thursday at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

This event showcased the region's ambition to become a global leader in the burgeoning data centre market.

The conference highlighted the profound implications of artificial intelligence (AI) on data infrastructure, a pivotal factor driving the expected growth of the global data centre market from $256 billion this year to an astounding $775 billion by 2034. Industry leaders gathered at "Data Centres Universe" to discuss how hyperscale, edge, and modular data centres can meet the increasing demand fueled by AI.

Major players such as Khazna, Legrand, Vertiv, Alibaba Cloud, AWS, DELL, Google Cloud, IBM, and Lenovo shared insights on the industry’s evolving landscape.

Hassan Al Naqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Centres, emphasized that expanding data centres not only boosts market growth but also fosters job creation and talent development.

“Data centres are vital for economies and play a critical role in job security,”

he stated.

As the industry pivots towards sustainability, Marc Marazzi, Vice President of Legrand Data Centre Solutions, underscored the importance of environmentally responsible practices in data centre development. He urged organizations to consider the long-term impact of their construction decisions.

“We must think about the future and ensure we’re building responsibly,”

Marazzi remarked, highlighting the industry's commitment to green initiatives.

With innovation at its core, GITEX Global 2024 reinforced the Middle East’s strategic position in the future of global data infrastructure, setting the stage for a new era of technological advancement.
