GITEX GLOBAL 2024, the world's premier tech event, continues to captivate audiences at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from October 14-18.
This year’s edition, the largest yet, has attracted over 6,500 exhibitors and 1,800 startups, underscoring its role as a global hub for technology and innovation.
On Wednesday, the event's highlight was "Cybersecurity Day," featuring a robust agenda of keynote speeches and panel discussions focused on the critical state of cybersecurity. With global cybercrime projected to inflict $10.5 trillion in damages annually by 2025, industry leaders, including top Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs), gathered to address pressing threats and collaborative solutions.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, UAE Government’s Head of Cybersecurity, emphasized the country's proactive stance, stating that it has thwarted 71 million attacks in Q1 2024.
"AI is changing the game,"
he noted, highlighting the importance of cyber awareness in combating digital threats. Todd Conklin from the U.S. Treasury echoed this sentiment, revealing that AI has helped reduce fraud by nearly $600 million in the past six months.
The event also showcased innovative cybersecurity solutions from companies like Huawei and Kaspersky, emphasizing the need for a security-first culture in organizations.
As GITEX GLOBAL 2024 progresses, it promises more engaging sessions, including discussions on data management and future mobility, further solidifying its status as a catalyst for global cooperation in technology.
