On the second day of the Global Women’s Forum Dubai, a session titled ‘The Future of Social Development: Regional Cooperation and Integration’ spotlighted the pivotal role of collaboration in fostering inclusive and resilient societies.

Moderated by Chantal Saliba from Sky News Arabia, the panel featured prominent leaders, including Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, UAE’s Community Development Authority Director General; Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Oman’s Minister of Social Development; and Wafa Bani Mustafa, Jordan’s Minister of Social Development.

The panel explored strategies to prepare societies for anticipated and unforeseen crises. Discussions highlighted long-term initiatives like the UAE’s Centennial 2071, which aims to empower future generations with the skills and knowledge required to navigate rapid changes. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid underscored the importance of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which includes 100 transformational projects to double Dubai’s economy in the next decade.

A key focus was the transformative role of technology and artificial intelligence in advancing education, employment, and social policies. Panellists stressed the need for inclusive training programs and accessible infrastructure, particularly for people of determination. The UAE’s inclusive approach, exemplified by the 2017 introduction of the term "People of Determination," was praised as a model for meaningful change.

Wafa Bani Mustafa highlighted Jordan’s commitment to reforms amidst regional challenges, emphasizing resilience and stability. Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar reinforced the idea that social development is a shared responsibility requiring collaborative and innovative efforts.

The session concluded with a call to measure progress through citizen satisfaction, access to services, and societal well-being, underscoring the collective responsibility for shaping a sustainable future.
