Google has officially launched its latest Pixel 9 series smartphones, featuring the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. These new devices come with advanced Gemini AI capabilities, setting a new standard in mobile technology. Alongside the smartphones, Google also introduced the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 earbuds.
The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, available in 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch sizes respectively, are the first in the series to offer two Pro model sizes. The standard Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a 6.3-inch cover display that unfolds into an 8-inch display.
Design-wise, the Pixel 9 models sport a redesigned rear camera bar, a matte glass back, and polished metal sides. Google claims these new devices are twice as durable as their predecessors, with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold featuring a thinner chassis, fluid-friction hinge, and a rectangular camera setup.
All Pro models and the Fold come equipped with new "Super Actua" OLED displays, which are brighter and more vibrant than previous generations. The devices are also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for enhanced durability.
Powered by the Google Tensor G4 chip, the Pixel 9 series is optimized for AI-driven tasks, with 12GB of RAM in the standard Pixel and 16GB in the Pro models. Enhanced battery life, a 5x telephoto lens with 20x Super Res Zoom, and AI-powered camera features like Add Me, Auto Frame and Magic Editor further elevate the photography experience.
Gemini AI is deeply integrated into these new Pixel smartphones, offering a "mobile conversational experience" through Gemini Live, which requires a Gemini Advanced subscription. Users can interact with the AI using text, images, or voice, and can create custom stickers and images using the new Pixel Studio app.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2, now lighter and smaller, comes with AI-enhanced Active Noise Cancellation and Gemini integration, allowing for seamless conversations with the AI assistant. The Pixel Watch 3, available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, features a new health monitoring system, automatic sleep detection, and up to 36 hours of battery life.
All new Google devices are available for pre-order today, with the Pixel 9 starting at $799, the Pixel 9 Pro at $999, the Pixel 9 Pro XL at $1,099, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at $1,799. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 is priced at $229, while the Pixel Watch 3 starts at $349.99.
