The UAE government has announced the winners of the UAE Innovates Award at the closing ceremony of UAE Innovates 2023.
UAE Innovates is the largest national event of its kind, taking place across all seven emirates throughout February, with the aim of consolidating the culture of innovation, enhancing community participation, celebrating local innovators and applying their innovations in a way that improves quality of life.
The closing ceremony of UAE Innovates 2023 involved 10 government entities that awarded innovative projects within the third edition of the UAE Innovates Award. There were 7 main categories that celebrated the most impactful innovations on a local and national level. The winning innovations were selected from among more than 400 projects.
The 2023 winners are:
- The Ministry of Interior and the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) in the Most Innovative Disruptive Project category
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Most Innovative Automated Government Procedure category
- The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for its smart app for vehicle ownership transfer
- The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government Regulatory Authority in the Most Innovative Digital Transformation category
- The Ministry of Finance and Dubai Police in the Most Innovative Government Process category
- Dubai Courts in the Most Innovative Community Services
- The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi in the Most Innovative Project in the Sustainability category
- Dubai Airports claimed the Most Innovative Use of Resources award
The awards ceremony was attended by Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, as well as officials representing the winning entities, representatives of the executive councils of the UAE, in addition to partners of UAE Innovation Month.
Al Hashimi said,
"UAE Innovates represents the largest annual event of its kind to celebrate innovation and innovators, which embodies the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to embed a culture of innovation within government to enhance future readiness. It reflects the government’s approach to adopting innovation as a foundation for development.
“The activities of UAE Innovates 2023 received excellent engagement and wide participation from various government entities and members of society. It contributed significantly to spreading the culture of innovation and stimulating creativity to help develop and innovate effective solutions to future challenges. The event continues to have an important role in supporting the country's efforts to empower creative minds and give them the opportunity to apply their ideas and turn them into innovative projects that benefit society.”
