Gulfood has unveiled Gulfood Startups, a new platform aimed at helping high-growth food technology companies scale internationally from Dubai, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a global hub for food innovation and trade.

Introduced as part of Gulfood 2026, the initiative responds to rapid transformation across the global food economy, which is projected to reach US$11.37 trillion by 2030. Startups are increasingly driving change across production, processing, and distribution as the industry adapts to sustainability demands, supply chain pressures, and shifting consumer expectations.

Gulfood Startups will bring together more than 250 global innovators showcasing advances across the entire food value chain. Featured technologies include next-generation proteins, precision fermentation, advanced plant-based solutions, water-based frying systems, AI-powered predictive food intelligence, and automated supply chain platforms.

According to Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre, the platform offers founders rare, direct access to buyers, investors, distributors, and policymakers within a single integrated environment. She added that the World Agri-FoodTech Startup Challenge reflects a strong commitment to accelerating commercially viable innovation across the Gulf.

Delivered in collaboration with DMCC and the India Middle East Agri-Alliance, the three-day competition will see startups compete for a US$135,000 prize fund. Entries will be judged on innovation, scalability, market relevance, and environmental and economic impact.

The launch aligns with the UAE’s growing food and beverage sector, which is forecast to reach US$44 billion by 2029, supported by population growth, regulatory support, and sustained investment in food security and sustainability.

Gulfood Startups will run from January 26 to 30 as part of Gulfood 2026 in Dubai.
