Haj 2024: UAE Authority Updates Vaccination Requirements for Pilgrims
Pilgrims must have their vaccinations recorded on the international vaccination card by accredited health centers.
The UAE Health Ministry has updated the vaccination rules for Haj pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims are now required to receive flu vaccines and all mandatory vaccinations at least 15 days before departure, an extension from the previous 10-day deadline. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) emphasizes that vaccinations should be recorded on the international vaccination card by accredited health centers.
Pilgrims must ensure they get the necessary doses to allow enough time for the vaccines to be effective. MoHAP also recommends following all health instructions and precautions before and during travel. From March 26, presenting influenza vaccination cards has been mandatory for Saudi-bound pilgrims. Authorities advise those with chronic illnesses to visit health centers well in advance. Vaccinations are available at government health centers and private hospitals to help prevent and control infectious diseases.
