Hala, Dubai’s leading e-hailing taxi service, has launched Hala EV, a groundbreaking sustainability initiative aimed at transforming urban mobility and supporting Dubai’s vision for a greener future.

As part of this initiative, Hala has introduced four new electric vehicle (EV) models—BYD, Skywell, GAC Emkoo, and Tesla—bringing the total number of EV taxis to nearly 500. This expansion reinforces Hala’s leadership in eco-friendly transportation while aligning with Dubai’s goal of making all taxis hybrid or hydrogen-powered by 2027.

A Major Step Towards a Greener Fleet

With 90% of Hala’s 13,000 taxis already hybrid, the integration of EVs marks a significant leap toward achieving a fully eco-friendly fleet. This initiative complements advanced technology-driven solutions, such as High-Density Location (HDL) identification, which optimizes taxi availability in high-demand areas, enhancing fuel efficiency and sustainability.

Khaled Nuseibeh, CEO of Hala, highlighted the initiative’s impact:

“The launch of Hala EV reinforces our role in Dubai’s sustainability vision while ensuring seamless, reliable transport for our customers. Every ride in a Hala EV contributes to a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable city.”

“Sustainability is more than just adding EVs to our fleet—Hala EV is a catalyst for a more environmentally conscious e-hailing industry, and we are committed to scaling this initiative as part of our long-term sustainability strategy.”

Where to Find Hala EV Taxis

Starting this month, Hala EVs will be available in select high-demand locations, including:

  • Dubai Marina, JLT, JBR, and Palm Jumeirah
  • Media City, Al Barsha (1, 2, and 3), and Barsha Heights
  • Knowledge Village, Al Sufouh, and Bluewaters Dubai

This rollout ensures residents and visitors can access sustainable, convenient transport across Dubai’s most vibrant districts.

How to Book a Hala EV

Customers can book a Hala EV through the Careem app by selecting the Hala EV option—at no additional cost. With increasing demand, Hala plans to expand its electric fleet to more areas across the city.

Pioneering Sustainable Mobility

Since launching in 2019 as a joint venture between Careem and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Hala has been at the forefront of innovation, reshaping urban mobility in Dubai. With the city’s target of a 100% eco-friendly taxi fleet by 2027, Hala EV represents a significant step towards sustainable, high-quality transportation.

Currently, Hala manages over 24,000 captains and a fleet of 13,000 vehicles, solidifying its position as a trusted mobility partner for Dubai residents and visitors. As the city transitions towards a greener future, Hala remains committed to reducing environmental impact while enhancing the passenger experience.
