Dubai has approved three ambitious new government projects aimed at pushing the emirate a decade ahead of other global cities through innovation-driven public services.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given the green light to the initiatives under the third phase of the Dubai 10X Initiative, reinforcing the city’s commitment to future-ready governance.

The projects target key sectors including urban mobility, healthcare, and travel, with a strong focus on cross-government collaboration and quality-of-life improvements. They include the 20 Minute City led by the Roads and Transport Authority, the Disease Early Detection System led by the Dubai Health Authority, and the City Terminal Project led by Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.

Sheikh Hamdan said the Dubai 10X Initiative has driven a step change in government performance by embedding innovation, collaboration, and forward thinking across public sector teams. He emphasised that accelerating government performance remains central to Dubai’s long-term vision, with bold projects redefining excellence in public service.

The three initiatives were selected from 79 proposals developed by more than 120 employees across 33 government entities. Evaluation criteria focused on impact, speed of implementation, integration, and benefits for residents.

The 20 Minute City pilot in Al Barsha 2 aims to ensure residents can access most essential services within a short walk or cycle. The healthcare initiative focuses on early detection of diseases, beginning with diabetes, to improve outcomes and reduce costs. The City Terminal Project will allow passengers to complete airport check-in procedures at locations across Dubai before travelling directly to departure halls.

Launched in 2017, the Dubai 10X Initiative continues to shape government models designed to keep Dubai among the world’s most future-ready cities.
