Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the launch of the Erth Dubai Award, a major global recognition programme designed to honour excellence in cultural and heritage preservation.
The initiative aims to highlight the stories and traditions that shape Emirati identity and safeguard Dubai’s heritage for generations to come.
Sheikh Hamdan said the emirate’s history continues to guide its progress, noting that Dubai’s future ambitions remain closely tied to its cultural roots. He emphasised that societies which value their heritage are better positioned to build a confident and resilient future.
He added that the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has created a development model that blends authenticity with innovation. This approach has positioned Dubai as a global benchmark that integrates heritage with modernity.
The Erth Dubai Award invites participation from citizens, residents, institutions, and organisations, encouraging them to share stories that document the emirate’s cultural and social life. Sheikh Hamdan called on the public to contribute to preserving the collective memory of the local community.
With a prize fund exceeding AED5 million, the Award is among the largest of its kind. It features two main categories covering seven sub-categories, including awards for creatively documented stories, family legacies, oral heritage, and standout contributions from the private and government sectors. A grand prize of AED1 million will be awarded to the best overall entry.
Applications are open until 15 January 2026 through the Erth Dubai website and mobile app. Winners will be honoured in the first quarter of next year. All submissions will be preserved in a digital archive that will serve as a long-term resource for researchers and cultural institutions.
