H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, oversaw the signing of several agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two nations during Sheikh Hamdan’s official visit to Uzbekistan.
Among the key agreements was a mutual legal assistance pact in civil and commercial matters, signed by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Akbar Toshkulov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice. This agreement aims to bolster legal cooperation, focusing on access to courts and the enforcement of judicial rulings.
Another significant development was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on e-commerce, signed by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy. This MoU seeks to harness technology to boost cross-border trade and promote sustainable e-commerce through digitization.
Additionally, a collaboration in higher education was solidified through an MoU signed by Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and his Uzbek counterpart, Kungirotboy Sharipov. This agreement aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and develop legislative frameworks in higher education.
Further agreements included those focused on developing logistics and free zones, smart city design, and enhancing trade relations between the private sectors of both countries.
The visit, which included discussions with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and other senior officials, culminated in a knowledge exchange retreat aimed at fostering greater collaboration and strategic partnerships between the UAE and Uzbekistan.
