The Digital Data Design Institute at Harvard, in partnership with the Harvard Business School Club of the GCC, hosted its inaugural International AI Conference at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

The event brought together global leaders, innovators, and academics to explore the challenges and transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI). Focused on AI’s impact on industries and society, the conference highlighted its pivotal role in shaping the future.

A key moment was a fireside chat with Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. Reflecting on the UAE’s AI journey, Al Olama emphasized the country’s three-tiered strategy, aimed at solidifying its position as a global leader in AI by 2031. He pointed to AI’s seamless integration into daily life, such as AI-powered facial recognition at UAE airports, which enhances the travel experience. Al Olama also discussed AI’s role in reshaping infrastructure, optimizing large-scale projects, and improving safety, speed, and efficiency.

Karim Lakhani, Co-founder of the Digital Data Design Institute, delivered the keynote address, unveiling an innovative AI-powered conference bot and an AI-native online course aimed at accelerating AI adoption. Lakhani outlined the challenges of AI adoption, noting that while efficiency gains are staggering, the true challenge lies in scaling AI across organizations.

Saleh Lootah, President of the Harvard Business School Club of the GCC, highlighted the region’s potential to lead the AI revolution. With over 400 participants and the support of the Technology Innovation Institute, the conference showcased the UAE’s visionary leadership and commitment to building a sustainable, AI-driven future.

This transformative gathering set the stage for AI to play a critical role in shaping tomorrow’s global society.
