Dubai Municipality has launched the second edition of the Hatta Farming Festival, as part of the ‘Dubai Farms’ initiative, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

The festival, which began today at Leem Lake, will run until January 22, featuring 25 Emirati farmers, homesteaders, and local agricultural companies.

The event, held under the umbrella of the Hatta Winter initiative and supported by the Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta, showcases agricultural products, services, and sustainable practices, with a focus on fostering collaboration within the UAE’s growing agricultural market. Hatta, with its unique environmental and cultural heritage, is positioned as a leading agri-tourism destination.

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dhahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the festival's alignment with the UAE’s national food security goals. She emphasized the importance of expanding agricultural practices, supporting local food production, and reducing food imports. The festival plays a significant role in promoting sustainable farming and instilling agricultural values in the community.

Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, stressed that the festival is an integral part of the ‘Dubai Farms’ programme, aiming to empower Emirati farmers and enhance food security. The festival offers a diverse programme, including exhibitions, workshops, and interactive sessions with agricultural experts, while also featuring livestock auctions and awards to highlight best farming practices.

With support from Dubai Municipality, Hatta farmers have access to modern techniques, fertilizers, seeds, and pest control, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable agriculture and Dubai's Food Security Strategy.
