Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, introducing “An Artificial Intelligence Agent for Every Faculty,” the first of its kind in the UAE and the region.
Announced at the HBMSU campus in Dubai, the project aims to redefine higher education through advanced AI technology, aligning with the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031 and Education Strategy 2033.
Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Alawar said the initiative reflects the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU, who has emphasized AI as a foundation for future services and initiatives in the emirate.
The AI agents are designed to streamline academic tasks, from course content development and assessment design to performance analysis and learner support strategies. By automating these processes, faculty can dedicate more time to mentoring, research, and innovation.
HBMSU reports significant gains from the system, including an 85% reduction in content development time, a 95% decrease in faculty workload, and a 40% increase in learner mastery. The technology was developed entirely in Dubai under the leadership of Maitha Al-Tunaiji, Vice Chancellor for Artificial Intelligence and Technology.
The initiative also emphasizes responsible AI use, incorporating safeguards for privacy, transparency, accessibility, and bias reduction. By integrating these standards, HBMSU seeks to set a global benchmark in AI-driven education while advancing Dubai’s role as a hub for innovation.
University leaders describe the platform as a paradigm shift that not only enhances teaching and learning but also lowers institutional costs, reinforcing HBMSU’s mission to shape the future of education in the digital era.
