Hiring domestic workers has become a common practice in the UAE as families juggle work and home responsibilities. To streamline and simplify the process, the UAE issued a decree in 2022 allowing private recruitment offices to hire domestic workers, provided they meet certain licensing conditions.
When hiring a domestic worker, residents must go through approved recruitment agencies and avoid unauthorized centers offering domestic help services.
If a domestic worker absconds, employers can file an absconding report online through a straightforward process. Here's how to do it in six simple steps:
Process for Filing an Absconding Report:
- Visit the official Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) website and log in using UAE Pass or your username and password.
- Enter the domestic worker's personal information, including passport number, ID number, unified number, name, date of birth, and nationality.
- Pay the required fee of Dh315.
- Your application will be forwarded to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, which will contact you if there are any concerns.
- If the report is successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation via text message and email.
- Upon completion, the Ministry will place its seal on the report.
Please note: This process applies to all Emirates except Dubai. In Dubai, residents must go through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
