During our interactions with Business Owners of Dubai, we realised that the general perception is "Trade Licence renewal is complex". Most of the business owners rely on a PRO.
We decided to do a simple research on this process to find out the truth. The truth is that the process is simple. So, we decided to write a story about it. ( ok...here's the confession- this is a rookie attempt on writing serious stuff. So, please do not expect PowerPoint jargons. We are going to stick to simple language format. )

- Send an SMS typing your Trade License Number number to 6969. You will get a reply within 20 seconds with a web link to download the payment voucher. Your Trade License gets renewed when you do this. You just need to make the payment after this.
- Visit - https://eservices.dubaided.gov.ae/Pages/Anon/TranStat.aspx
- Type "Licence Number" and search . Your payment voucher will be loaded in the page.
- Click on "Pay fee" link above the voucher
- Proceed to make payment using credit/debit card or netbanking.
- Download your renewed Trade License in the final stage of the process.step
- You will have the copy of renewed licence with you.

Here's what we figured !
Renewing a DED Trade license is a straight forward process, if you understand the three simple steps involved.
- Request renewal of Trade license & create a payment voucher
- Please remember to make a note of "Transaction No" printed in the payment voucher.
- Based on your choice of payment method ( Cash, cheque, Offline card payment, Online card payment, or Bank Transfer) choose the right channel to make the payment.
Step-1 Request renewal of Trade License & create a payment voucher
- The easiest method is to simply send an SMS typing your Trade License Number to 6969. You will get a reply within 20 seconds with a web link to download the payment voucher. ( the moment you click on the link,the payment voucher automatically downloads. Check your download folder for the PDF file)
- If you are very adamant about speaking to a person to get this process done, you need to go to a service center like Ta-sheel or Amer. They will assist you to get a printout. You can also pay the fee there itself. You may have to pay a service charge though.
Step-2 - Please remember to make a note of "Transaction Number" printed in the payment voucher.
- This suggestion might sound silly. But let us agree that we tend to get confused by multiple numbers printed in the voucher. The most important number from now on is "Transaction Number". Please keep a note of that. The next stage is choosing how to pay.
Step 3 - PAYMENT
It gets a bit complex at this stage. So, the best option for you is to decide how you are going to pay the fee ( Cash, swiping Credit/Debit Card offline, Net Banking, Online Credit/Debit card payment etc...)
a) - Online Payment using Credit/Debit Card
Visit - https://eservices.dubaided.gov.ae/Pages/Anon/PaymentChannels.aspx
There are 3 different payment gateways options in DED website. You can choose one of them to pay online. ( We found Smart Dubai to be the easiest option. But choosing one of the payment gateway is purely your choice. All 3 of them are efficient)
- Smart Dubai
- Type your Transaction number or trade licence number and proceed to make the payment. Accepts all credit/debit cards.
- You can take a print out of renewed DED Licence after payment.
2. Naqodi
- Type transaction number and proceed to make payment
- If you choose the default option of Naqoodi wallet, you will be asked to create a wallet account with Naqoodi. You can opt to make payment using debit/credit cards after registration
3. AAFAQ
- Enter your transaction number
- Choose credit card payment and complete the payment.
b) - If you are a customer of Commercial Bank of Dubai ( CBD) or Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB)
- You can make the payment from CBD and/or DIB bank mobile apps
- You can choose Dubai Economy(DED) payment after Internet Banking login.
- You can opt to pay using CBD/DIB credit cards through these channels too.
- This is applicable only for existing CBD & DIB customers
c) - If you prefer cash payment
You can make a cash payment in Amer & Tas-heel service centers
d) - If you prefer credit/debit card payment offline
You can make offline credit/debit card payments in Amer & Tas-heel service center counters directly.
e) - If you prefer Net-banking payment
- As mentioned earlier, if you are a CBD or DIB customer you can directly pay from net banking/mobile banking account to DED
- If you are a customer of ADIB or ENBD ( or even CBD or DIB), you can try the following steps

- Choose - SMART DUBAI
- Enter Transaction Number and proceed
- Choose "NetBanking" and choose among ADIB, CBD,DIB or ENBD" to proceed and make the payment.
3. If you are a customer of Arab Bank, Citibank UAE, Commercial Bank International, FAB, HSBC UAE, Standard Charted UAE, ADCB or DIB
- visit - https://eservices.dubaided.gov.ae/Pages/Anon/PaymentChannels.aspx
- Choose - NAQODI
- Enter Transaction Number and proceed
- Choose "NetBanking" and choose your bank to make payment.
There are few other options. But since they are a bit complex in nature, we decided to skip them. ( May be we can write about it in a story titled " 3 most difficult ways to renew Trade License" later )
Now, it is time do justice for title of the story by suggesting a process to get your Trade Licence renewed within 4 minutes.The truth is that the process of renewing DED Trade license is as easy as doing an Instagram post. We avoid doing this of our own because we might be getting confused looking at multiple options or we are possibly worried that we'd end up making some mistake during the process. (Also, our friendly neighbourhood PRO keeps us in dark, by projecting this to be rocket science. But we wont discuss about that now :P)
