The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced sweeping changes to the UAE’s entry and residence visa regulations, unveiling new categories designed to support specialists, businesses, and residents facing personal circumstances.

Among the updates are four new visit visas targeting professionals in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships, and leisure boats. The move aligns with the UAE’s strategy to attract skilled talent and strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and tourism.

The ICP has also introduced a humanitarian residence permit, valid for one year and extendable under specific conditions. In addition, widows and divorcees of foreign residents can now obtain a one-year residence permit, renewable for a similar period.

A new visit visa for friends and relatives allows sponsorship up to the third degree, provided the sponsor meets income requirements. For entrepreneurs, the business exploration visa requires financial solvency, company ownership abroad, or proof of professional practice.

Other updates include a visa for truck drivers, subject to sponsorship, health checks, and financial guarantees. The ICP has also issued clear schedules specifying the duration of stay for each visa type and the conditions for extension.

The latest reforms reflect the UAE’s ongoing efforts to diversify visa options, enhance flexibility for residents and visitors, and support key economic sectors.
