The critical balance between opportunities and risks in global event security took centre stage today at the Intersec 2025 Security Leader’s Summit, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Security professionals and industry leaders from across the globe convened to discuss challenges and innovations shaping the future of safeguarding major international events.
Keynote speaker Regina Dagueva, Chairman Advisor of Qatar’s Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC), delivered an insightful session titled “Securing Global Mega Events: Security Lessons Learnt.” She emphasized the transformative impact of technological advancements on physical security for large-scale events.
“In the next five years, evolving technologies will revolutionize threat detection and response capabilities,”
Dagueva said.
“Advanced communication tools will foster global collaboration, while lessons from past events, like Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup, will cultivate a skilled security workforce.”
The SSOC, instrumental in securing the FIFA World Cup and aiding Paris 2024 Olympic preparations, highlighted the importance of balancing technological opportunities with risks, including geopolitical tensions and evolving threats.
The summit also delved into other pressing topics, including supply chain security, post-conflict reconstruction, inclusive community security, and the role of artificial intelligence in redefining global security strategies.
Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, underscored the event’s importance, stating,
“Intersec serves as a vital platform for collaboration and innovation, bringing influential voices together to shape the industry’s future.”
Running until 16 January, Intersec 2025 continues to drive conversations and solutions that will define the global security landscape.
