As the UAE strengthens its position as a global business and innovation hub, road safety has emerged as a crucial focus within its social sustainability goals.

In alignment with the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030, which aims to halve traffic-related deaths by 2030, Intersec 2025 will feature a key Safety & Health Conference from January 14-16 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Dr. Karen McDonnell, Head of Global Relations at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), underscored the urgency of tackling road safety challenges.

“By adopting a ‘safe systems’ approach that includes strong policies, technology, and partnerships, organisations in the UAE can significantly reduce road-related fatalities,”

she said.

Dubai's commitment to road safety is evident in its 93% reduction in traffic fatalities between 2007 and 2023, achieving a record low of 1.6 deaths per 100,000 people last year. This success is attributed to enhanced traffic enforcement and infrastructure improvements. Similarly, Eugene Mayne, CEO of UAE-based Tristar Group, shared that his company’s use of advanced fatigue detection technology has enabled over 500 million safe kilometers driven, supporting Dubai’s "Golden Rules for Generational Safety" campaign.

The Safety & Health Conference will also feature curated sessions by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), focusing on workplace safety priorities. Additionally, Intersec’s exhibition will showcase 1,200 exhibitors across various safety domains, including Commercial & Perimeter Security, Fire & Rescue, and Cyber Security, expecting over 42,000 global visitors.

Intersec 2025 will offer a comprehensive platform for addressing the UAE’s road safety goals, marking a major step towards safer roads and workplaces across the region.
