Italian Pavilion to Shine at Downtown Design 2024 in Dubai

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is set to unveil the Italian pavilion at Downtown Design 2024, scheduled from November 6 to 9 at the Dubai Design District (D3).

Under the theme "Dubai Meets Italian Design," the pavilion will feature a curated selection of high-end furniture and home accessories from 25 distinguished designers, alongside collections from other iconic Italian brands.

Highlighting the event, a panel of experts will convene on November 7 to explore the future of design, discussing how to balance contemporary trends with the enduring values of quality, cultural heritage, and identity within a rapidly evolving industry.

Italy's furniture exports to the UAE have soared, reaching €200.39 million (approximately $210 million) in 2024, marking a remarkable 21% year-on-year increase. Following a strong 2023, when exports neared €300 million, Italy now holds a 10% share of the UAE's luxury furniture market, a testament to its exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to sustainability—the hallmarks of the renowned "Made in Italy" brand.

In the first quarter of 2024, Italian exports of furniture and lighting to the UAE reached €195.49 million ($205 million), capturing a 10% market share. Meanwhile, exports of furnishing accessories and home décor hit €11.13 million ($11.7 million), reflecting an 11% year-on-year growth in this segment.

Lorenzo Fanara, the Italian Ambassador to the UAE, stated,

"Our participation in Downtown Design highlights the deepening partnership between Italy and the UAE as we meet the region's growing demand for elegant, eco-friendly furniture."

Valerio Soldani, Trade Commissioner of Italy to the UAE, added,

"Italian design's excellence, innovation, and durability are key drivers behind our growing market share in the luxury furniture industry."
