Italy and the United Arab Emirates are witnessing unprecedented momentum in their economic partnership, with trade exchange and exports setting new benchmarks in 2025, according to Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE Valerio Soldani.

Speaking at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in Dubai, Soldani revealed that non-oil trade between the two countries reached around €6 billion in the first half of 2025. Italian exports alone grew by 19% compared to last year, hitting €4.5 billion. By year-end, exports are projected to exceed €9 billion, surpassing the €7.8 billion achieved in 2024.

Industrial technology has emerged as a key driver, recording growth of more than 23% this year and accounting for 26% of total Italian exports to the UAE. This sector now outpaces traditional strengths such as furniture, with jewelry and other industries continuing to contribute significantly.

Highlighting the trend, Soldani pointed to Italy’s strong presence at WETEX, where companies are showcasing solutions in renewable energy, water treatment, waste management, and sustainability. In 2024, Italian exports in renewable energy exceeded €250 million, reflecting an annual growth rate of more than 30%.

More than 600 Italian companies currently operate in the UAE, with the number steadily rising. Soldani noted that these firms see the Emirates not only as a vital market but also as a strategic hub for the Gulf, wider Middle East, and Asia, boosted by the UAE’s Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements.

The accelerating trade growth underscores the deepening collaboration between Italy and the UAE, with sustainability and advanced technology expected to remain central to the partnership.
