Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) has forged a strategic partnership with renowned Indian food brand Haldiram’s to establish one of the largest saffron processing facilities in the GCC.
The agreement, signed during Gulfood in Dubai, marks a significant milestone for both parties in the food and beverage sector.
Set to begin operations in March 2025, the facility will be managed by Kesar Expert & Packers, a leading saffron processor with over 22 years of experience in India. The state-of-the-art plant will also secure European BRCGS certification to ensure the highest standards of saffron quality and purity.
The initial processing capacity of the hub will be 30 metric tonnes of saffron, with ambitious plans to scale up to 100 metric tonnes over the next five years. This expansion will be supported by the UAE-India CEPA and the strategic location of Jafza, benefiting from its world-class infrastructure and proximity to Jebel Ali Port.
In addition to saffron processing, the partnership lays the groundwork for future collaborations, including expanding Haldiram’s footprint in Dubai and further investments in food processing and distribution facilities.
This agreement underscores Dubai’s growing prominence as a global trade hub, particularly in the food and beverage industry. Jafza now hosts over 770 F&B companies, solidifying its position as a key player in the region’s economic development.
