Jebel Ali Port handled 630,000 tonnes of breakbulk cargo in October 2025, marking its highest monthly total in almost twenty years and signalling a sharp rise in regional industrial and construction activity.

DP World attributed the milestone to growing imports of iron and steel for major national projects, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line and the expanded DWC airport, along with an uptick in sugar exports. The surge follows a strong 2024, when breakbulk volumes climbed 23 percent to reach 5.36 million metric tonnes.

Shahab Al Jassmi, Chief Commercial Officer for Ports and Terminals at DP World GCC, said the record reflects the trust businesses place in Jebel Ali as the region’s most dependable gateway. He noted that rising volumes show how the port is supporting growing infrastructure demand while maintaining efficient supply chains across the UAE.

Breakbulk cargo, which covers heavy and oversized materials used in large-scale industrial and construction projects, remains a core part of operations at Jebel Ali. The port benefits from Jafza’s integrated ecosystem and DP World’s global logistics network, enabling smooth movement of complex cargo across regional and international markets.

The achievement comes as Jebel Ali continues evolving into one of the world’s most advanced multipurpose ports. Over the past decade, it has delivered consistent growth across containers, RoRo and bulk cargo, underscoring its agility in adapting to shifting global trade patterns.

Jebel Ali’s expanding role supports the UAE’s broader economic goals, powering the development of construction, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors that form key pillars of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the national Operation 300Bn strategy.
